From childhood aspiration
to the path I've created for myself

To understand the spark of my interests, first let's hop on a time machine for a quick ride!
Back in middle school, I had a serious childhood aspiration to own and produce entertainment shows and comedies because I simply couldn’t stop myself from binge watching them! In the pursuit of my career aspiration, I took all the relevant classes, including Theater, Visual Art, and Business Management. While these subjects were so much fun, they also laid the much-needed foundation for the years of creative and innovative thinking to come!
The focus of my career aspiration really broadened and took a different spin when I reached the final year of high school. I began to realize a diverse array of possibilities that the world out there had to offer. Among the many possibilities, Entrepreneurship stood out to me. To me back then and to me now, entrepreneurship entails solving complex problems, creating and delivering value, and discovering opportunities and new possibilities. My interest led me to apply to Babson College, the world's #1 school in Entrepreneurship and my dream school.
I was overjoyed when I got my acceptance letter!
When I arrived at Babson in Boston, Massachusetts, I found myself in a competitive, intense, fast-paced, nerve-wrecking, and focused environment. What did I get myself into!? My classmates came from all over the world with amazing business backgrounds and ambitious business dreams. In fact, so many people came in with their businesses already up and running! Internship fairs, networking events, job interviews with the biggest corporations, business pitches, startup competitions, and having thousands of connections on LinkedIn were basically second nature to us.
My first two years at Babson were a bit of a haze. I didn’t know how someone like me, with zero previous experience in business or entrepreneurship, would be able to compete, let alone keep up with everyone else. A lot of self-doubt and negativity kicked in, but not for long. I began to “find myself” as I really thought about what I truly enjoyed. Then, I remembered my childhood aspiration to become a creative TV producer, the fun I had when I created fun interactive content and ran a Facebook fan page for Chipotle in my marketing class, and my audience’s laughter after my team delivered a humorous role-play presentation. It was when I realized how I could finally start to excel at Babson. It was when I realized my own path and my unique approach to entrepreneurship: be a creative force that makes a positive difference in society and other people’s lives.
Once I realized my own path, I created it. The rest of my time at Babson was fruitful and simply wonderful. I grew a lot and began to open myself to new projects and possibilities. In the final two years alone, I took on so many exciting projects. For example, I created a viral marketing campaign to promote emotional and physical well-being of American college students, conducted extensive market research to help a chain restaurant improve its rapidly declining customer service, and designed a service to respond to the rapidly aging global population. These projects made me realize the power of Design that helps entrepreneurs with complex problem solving, value creation, and capturing opportunities. In addition to these college projects, I had work experience in the retail industry at Boutique Newcity Public Co. Ltd., in the advertising industry at Leo Burnett Worldwide, and in the business and startup scene at C asean, a hub for entrepreneurs and young generations in Southeast Asia. Through these amazing experiences, I got to work closely with so many creative people and entrepreneurs, while also learning from the success stories and directions of large corporations, experts, and even investors.
Although my Babson years are over, my intention to be a creative force that makes a positive difference in society and other people's lives lives on. Having been fortunate enough to work closely with and for leading universities, forward-looking organizations, and game-changing individuals through my business venture, IN THE LEAD, I get to explore creative ways to help different groups of people—from college students and employees to aspiring entrepreneurs and youth—not only design and define their own future, but also develop their unique capacities and fullest potential. The potential impact of my work gives me a strong sense of purpose to keep going and pushing limits. I look forward to sharing many more stories with you through this platform!
